First Kayak Float of the Year

The extensive rain and unusually cold temps have made this such a strange spring.  I’m way behind on gardening and some of the weeds in my yard are as tall as I am!  I’ve put fewer miles on the motorcycle than is typical for this time of year and I haven’t even  had to turn on the A/C yet!

Despite all that, the temps are finally starting to rise and today, Karen and I were able to get on the river.  I’ve got the truck; she’s got the kayaks.  We knew that rain was coming but enjoyed the peace that floating the river brings and reached the take out spot right before the storm set in.

Simply lovely!

Spontaneous!

A Spontaneous 24 Hour Vacation = Many, Many Photographs to edit!

It’s going to take me awhile to review, delete, edit and post even just a few of them.  Until then, this photo perfectly expresses the peace (and lovely fatigue) that I feel after an unplanned mini-getaway!

The Colors of …

You thought I’d be posting pictures of spring flowers, right?  With all those bright, beautiful colors?

So what do I do instead?

I post pictures of a tree … an old tree, one covered with lichen, fungi, and damage.

But check out the colors!

This last one is from a tree felled by a recent storm.

The Colors of Nature (and the new bike!)

It was a beautiful evening … one of those times when the light captures the colors of nature perfectly!  I met with Pam to enjoy a glass or two of wine after work and the view was our reward for working hard (well, the view AND the wine AND the friendship).

Holly and Nandina / Rain and Snow

In just 24 hours, I experienced sun, rain, sleet and snow … and the plants and trees were made prettier because of it.
