Pitcher Plant

The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, is an estate garden whose mission is to “provide an oasis of inspiration and tranquility, while furthering the understanding and appreciation of plants, especially epiphytes”.  An epiphyte is a plant that derives its moisture and nutrients from the air and rain and usually grows on another plant.

It’s been an all too short, but wonderful visit to Sarasota, and I’ll have more photos and stories to post later.  For now, know that I’ve missed many of your posts while I’ve traveled, but I’ll catch up soon!!

Gratitude

I’m grateful, my blogging friends, for your incredible words of support, love, healing, and care since my motorcycle wreck.  These are the unexpected blessings of blogging.  You all bring joy to my life through your gorgeous photography, your beautifully written words, your stimulating ideas, and your love for the world at large.

Thank You.

Photography: From the Bed

Since I can’t get outside, and I definitely can’t get on the bike (it was declared totaled …sadness!), I’ve been shooting from the bed.  I’ve received so many beautiful flowers and they’ve brightened up the room and my spirits!

Thanks for all the lovely messages of encouragement and support.  Now that I am able to use the camera and the computer at intervals, I am anxious to visit your blogs!

You’ll be seeing my comments on your posts – SOON!!

Fall Back to Summer

I love that the colors of summer still shine brightly against the beauty of the changing leaves.

As Alys counts down to Halloween, I count down to this weekend’s ride!

Despite a photo title that is reminiscent of a certain holiday in July, it is officially fall and the perfect time for riding.  I’ve got one more long weekend off of work before the cold sets in and I’m planning a ride through parts of Tennessee and North Carolina.

I hit the road in 3 weeks! You’ll be there with me, right?  🙂

One More From Deb’s Backyard: Hollyhocks!

If you’ve seen my last two posts, you know that one afternoon in Deb’s backyard led to a wonderful time and some fun photos.  Hopefully, you’ve seen the Calla Lilys and the Sunflowers.  Please enjoy these Hollyhocks, too.

With all the rain and  flooding we’ve had (photos next post!), it’s hard for me to believe we actually saw the sun a week ago!

Another fun flower from Deb’s backyard, taken during a wonderful afternoon.  Don’t you just love a sunflower?

Deb’s Calla Lily

A last minute gathering in a friend’s backyard led to awesome food, “local” drink (if you get my meaning), a fire in the pit, lots of singing and laughing, and the enjoyment of beautiful flowers.
