After riding 125 miles, much of it along the Blue Ridge Parkway, you might expect me to post photos of the changing fall leaves.
While I did see many beautiful sites as I followed along behind my friend Dave, we didn’t stop for photos because we had a destination in mind.
Raps is a full service 1950’s / 60’s Renaissance Store and Ice Cream Shop adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Raps also has a restaurant / bar and grill and features live music on the weekends.
The beer was cold, the music was classic rock, and several in the crowd were dancing. What really attracted my eye though, were the bright flags flapping in the wind against the brilliant blue sky.
You must be thinking: “really, LB, a post about flags? The kind that can easily be found flying at any car dealership”. What can I say? They made me happy!
Eleven days ’til the Fall Bike Trip!! Now THAT really makes me happy!
You made me laugh and smile first thing in the morning with this post. Thanks.
So glad! Thanks 🙂
Rap’s sounds like a cool place LB and I like the bright colors of the flags. Besides “The answer my friend is”…..
Yes it is! We’ve got the music thing going on lately, don’t we? 🙂
Yes we do 😀
Neato! That sounds like a great place to hang for a bit. Love the flag pics too!
I’m glad you liked the flags, too. We really enjoyed our visit!
It is about the ride and not the destination though.
Well Chris, if you have seen any of my many posts about riding, you will know that for me, it is both.
WOW…people were dancing? You sure don’t see this anymore. My mom used to tell me that everyday she would get off of school and go to the soda shop and everybody would dance everyday!
Yep, dancing! In the middle of a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I think the gorgeous fall afternoon just inspired folks to get up and move 🙂
sounds like a place I’d enjoy visiting!!! love the flags…and the great clouds too!
We pulled in to a parking lot full of bikes and convertibles, the music was just the right volume, the view beautiful … just a lovely way to spend a bit of time.
Gas-Food, food that gives you gas? 😀
Ha! I’ll let you know the next time I go!
Really????? 125 Miles?????? Wow 🙂 Are the fall colors out on the parkway yet?
The leaves had just started to turn a bit … I suspect the BRP will be in all it’s glory in the next couple weeks. Believe it or not, 125 was just an average day on the bike. 200 is a good long ride 🙂 But no matter how many miles, the ride is always a joy!
You find the coolest little places and things on your rides Laurie! Love the flags dancing so freely in the wind and amongst the clouds. Have a great night! Robyn
You described those flags perfectly!
Keep on taking great photos and never stop riding!!!
I will!! How have you been? On the way to your blog now 🙂
Beautiful photos! and i have a thing about flags too..i actually have taken many shots of them.
So I’m not the only one 🙂 Thanks so much!
LOL, a girl after my own heart….what is it about Banners that are so joyful? I loved every single
flippity-flap (I’m imagining them in a breeze). Banners are very hot in the scrap world right now. I’m actually working on one of my own that says ‘SPARKLE’. It’s taking some time given my propensity to get side-tracked on any number of things…HA…11-10-9-8…..
I totally agree on the joy of the banners / flags. Just flapping in the beautiful breeze on a gorgeous day!
You? Distracted by a project? Say it ain’t so!!!
🙂
You make me smile!!
