Shop Window

The conference is over and it’s time to attend to an overfull week; a week filled with work, other commitments, and thankfully, with play. So while I’m anxious to share the photos from the auction, I’ll have to put that labor of love off for a few days.

As that long successful day drew to a close, winter’s setting sun lent beauty to dirty shop windows and the machines used to punch metal.

Blowing Rock: Come on In

My all too short visit to Blowing Rock was so much fun (see here), and as I walked around the town before heading home on the first day of 2014, I couldn’t help but photograph a few doors and windows.  As with the chairs and benches, I didn’t realize until I got home just how many doors and windows I had photographed.

Some from the outside …

… and some from the inside.

At times it was the color that caught my eye …

… and other times, it was the light.

And sometimes … I just don’t know 🙂

No matter the reason, I spent 24 wonderful hours in this little town (well, except for when I locked myself out of my room … in my PJs … ha!).  Friendly folks, delicious food and drink, and lots of places to explore.

Be sure to check out Blowing Rock the next time you are near.

Next Trip?  A day trip to Roanoke to buy my new camera!

Something About A Window

An organization that I belong to held a meeting at a local church last evening.  Grace Episcopal  has been a part of the Radford community for over 100 years and is a lovely old building.  As I walked up to the church, I was struck by the windows.

From the inside they were even more beautiful, and against the setting sun, were the color of amber.

As I left the house this morning, I decided to run by and take one more picture, this time of the the building, and not just the windows.  What a difference a day makes!!  Yesterday was sunny and bright.  Today a 6 inch snowfall!

In April!
