This image is my contribution to Monochromia this week. As always, I encourage you to check out the work of the fabulous photographers who share their work on that fine blog devoted to B&W Photography.
Late yesterday, I finally edited the photos from a trip that I took almost 2 months ago. After planting some trees this morning and spending the day knocking doors and introducing myself to the people in the 12th District, I’ll be back to post the images.
Enjoy this day, my friends!
Good question! Either way, that’s an activity that I could do for hours!!!!!!
Hi Doreen! She was in front of me as we walked along the beach and it seemed obvious at the time. When I uploaded the image though, I realized that it could go either way 🙂
No way to tell from the photo, for sure!
Spectacular image Laurie 🙂
Joe, thanks for visiting here and on Monochromia!
Looks like something from Inception! Coming towards the camera, that’s what I reckon 🙂
Hello! As I was telling Doreen “She was in front of me as we walked along the beach and it seemed obvious at the time. When I uploaded the image though, I realized that it could go either way”
50/50 chance and I got it wrong 😀
Very cool photo, Laurie. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Thanks Mary for visiting here as well as Monochromia. You are the best!
Love it! It’s like the ending of a great movie in which the ending is unclear.
Great comment, Janet! Thank you!
Nice shot, LB.
I’d say coming, but, I reserve the right to change my mind! lol!
Have a great day. ~ Dave
And change your mind, you should 🙂
I was just telling Doreen that “She was in front of me as we walked along the beach and it seemed obvious at the time. When I uploaded the image though, I realized that it could go either way”
One of your best photos yet, Laurie!
Thanks for the wonderful comment. I really liked this image and am so glad that others are enjoying it, too
If your almost namesake Lowrie had been a photographer he would have envied this
Derrick, you must tell me about Lowrie, and promise to not judge if it should be obvious! 🙂
L.S. Lowry was a 20th century painter with a rather naive but extremely effective style. His figures in the Northern industrial landscape stood out in almost matchstick silhouettes. Our friend Marjory Clarke was a tutee and friend of his. Google has plenty of his images. It would have helped had I spelled his name correctly.
What a work of art! Love the hat too, it makes the image…I hear Wesern music when the hero or villain slowly enters the scene. Have a great weekend, xo Johanna
I agree about the hat, Johanna! It was the first thing that drew my eye! Thank you so much for noticing. The weekend has been full (aren’t they all?) so I’m glad to have found some time for blogs today!
Coming! Have a great weekend 🙂
Joanne, she is actually going! She was walking well in front of me and I crept up a bit to catch the image. What’s funny though is that when I uploaded the image, I realized that it could go either way.
Then I’m glad I didn’t bet on it! I was so positive!
I think coming – but I biggified [that’s a Boomdeeism] and had to still take a calculated guess. I love all the lines and intersecting lines and shades of grey built up around the central black figure.and the perfect v of the bird. With multiple areas of interest, horizon lines and disappearing points this photo is art and worthy of a place in a gallery!
Pauline, your generous comment brought such warmth to my heart, and of course is so typical of your generous spirit. I’m so glad that this image has resonated with everyone, as it is one that I loved, too.
love you!
Coming. (Going away from the big buildings.)
Hi Bruce! I was just telling Doreen (and others) “She was in front of me as we walked along the beach and it seemed obvious at the time. When I uploaded the image though, I realized that it could go either way” It’s unanimous … everyone thinks she was coming toward me.
Nope, she’s coming towards you. Your camera is a magnet.
I like not knowing which! It’s a very effective shot!
Thank you, Kerry. So glad you like this image!
Wild shot LB, I biggy-fied and I was going to guess coming toward the camera. I’ve read the answer and too my surprise not. Tricky tricky xk
