Really nice Laurie I’m glad you are back in the swing with posting.
I love my job, but I sure do need to retire (and I’m only partially joking!)
I think that the coffee just has to taste better with that combination of light, color and texture.

It looks like a really pretty morning – soft and warm……. I don’t know what a GOA is but I’m sure it is a very happy kind of awakening 🙂
GOA = Girls of August. We met in 1992 as graduate students at the Medical College of Virginia, became friends, and have been ever since. We gather twice every year – the first weekend in August, for four days of talk, food, drink, exploration, and fun; and also a 24 hour “Mid Winter Sanity Check” in February – a shorter version of August. So very lucky!

You’ve totally captured the mood LB. From the beautiful furniture to the shadow of the blinds on the wall, it just all evokes a warm welcome. The rocker with the swan arms is very fetching.

2. I just love waking up to a houseful of women (well, 4 women) all dear friends, being able to sit around for hours, with coffee (or tea for one, diet coke for another), yummy breakfast, and lots of good talk. Talk that includes laughs, but also a catch up on life.
3. HA!!!! Please come visit!! Just don’t take the chair 🙂

Does the chair have a story?
I asked my friend about the chair as it has been such a hit in this post. She got the chair from a friend, had it reupholstered, and it moved to a couple different places with her and her sons. What I love is that she said after looking at the photos, she loved her house again.
Now how cool is that?

Oh, I love this one. I can feel the warmth of those sunbeams when I look at the photos. What a lovely home, too. The chair arm in the shape of a dozing swan is particularly special.
We gathered at the home of one of the GOAs and when I directed her to the post, and particularly the comments, she told me that she started to like her home again. How cool is that? and yes … that chair has been the hit of the post!

I’m glad someone asked about the GOAs. What a lovely tradition. And where on earth did you find that beautiful chair? Is it a family heirloom?
The chair (which has truly been the hit of this post) is my friend’s, and the photos are from her home. She told me that she was given the chair by a friend as a hand me down and had it reupholstered. She had been wondering about it and upon reading all theses comments, has decided that she likes it again. I too, love it!
