Whether it's one simple yet somehow perfect day or a dreamed about journey finally realized, I never want to forget the joy of the moment or how fortunate I am!
Thanks Joe … and you’ll love this … I sent them in to the local paper (they were looking for winter pics) and they wrote back, very pleased, and asked me how I did it 🙂
Ha!!!! Love it!
Well … what could I say? 7am, still kinda dark; no tripod; used flash; shadowed out the background, done! (such a professional description, huh?)
Reminds me of the Honeymooners episode with the apple corer – zip, zip, zip it is done, LOL !
Very nice, Laurie! I’m curious – what type of camera do you use?
Thanks so much! I currently use a “bridge / superzoom” camera, a Canon Sx40HS. I’ve loved this camera because it’s been easy to use while traveling on the bike and I think the images turn out nicely. The camera is sadly on it’s last legs (I’ve used the heck out of it and it even survived the wreck) so I’m trying to decide on which DSLR to purchase.
I’ve been looking through your images this evening … and loving the exploration of the world and perspectives. Pretty cool to see you achieve the icicle image handheld. If you’re sticking with Canon and wanting to move up to a good camera that doesn’t break the bank and allows you to achieve and experiment I’d recommend the Canon EOS 70D with one or two kit lenses; my recommendation for lenses would Canons 15-85 mm … rather than the standard 18-mm kit lens; in some packages the 70D should come with the 15-85 mm lens. Before your purchase, I would still have you look through one, two or three issues of PhotoPlus magazine – for recommendations for lenses and camera. And, there’s the transfer to settings you’ll be making in a tangible way – programming modes, metering, white balance etc.. Your ISO range will increase immensely. The most advantage thing about the 70D is that the display flips out and can rotate … especially good for shots from different angles. This is the same camera as my 60D with good significant upgrades.
There’s a lot there … but it’s within your capable grasp. Anyways … enjoyed having a look through ‘Life on a Bike.’
Take care … 😉
Thanks so much, first, for taking such a good long look at my blog … it prompted me to go back and look at some of my posts, and see how I present myself to the world.
I will absolutely check out your suggestion. I do love Canon! Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts!
Sounds like one tough camera!
Re DSLR – I’ve been drooling over the Rebel T3i every time I see it in the store. So many possibilities with that one and it’s sleek. 🙂 I currently own a Rebel XT. None of the bells and whistles but considering its age it looks like a great series. Much luck in your search!
Oh snap, looks like you got hit with the ice storms. Is your power knocked out too Laurie? We’ve been seeing what’s going on in DC on our news…welcome to my nightmare. It looks like one of those stop motion photo’s, like a raindrop in the process of dripping. Awesome that I can still see all the detail on the twig too.
Hello my friend! My sister lives in DC and had it much worse than we did. We were prepared for the storm of the century (slight exaggeration) and it did not live up to the hype (thankfully – although I do love a storm). You have it sooooo much worse than we do. Stay warm, Boomdee … I’m sending warm thoughts your way.
These photos are gorgeous LB 😀

What are you going to say ? LOL 😀
BTW Terry is laughing her ass off 😀
Ha!!!! Love it!

Hee hee!! Thanks!
awesome…I love how the ice forms around the tiny twigs like that…
Every tree was like that this morning … like an icy winter wonderland!
Well, that sums it all up without a word spoken! Amazing!!
Thanks … it’s not often I am speechless, but this kinda spoke for itself 🙂

Thanks Leanne. It was a beautiful morning out there …
Way cool!
Thanks Jim … it was a beautiful morning out there. It warmed up dramatically later in the day!
nice shot especially the way you angled it….fab thing to photograph indeed! 🙂
Thanks so much. I do love the way the moisture coats and then freezes … so smooth and pretty.

Such an amazing shot, LB. I am laughing about your explanation to the media about how you made the capture. Sometimes simple is best. 😉
