One day last week I stopped by my friend Joe’s blog and saw a photo that I loved so much, all I could say was “Dang, Joe! Just DANG”!
Yeah … I have such a way with words 🙂
I fell in love with that photo and I told Joe so. One week later, a beautiful framed copy was hanging on my wall. My whole staff came in to view and admire it and I could not be happier.
Joe is a guy who has transcended blogger status and become a friend, and I hope to travel up north to meet him, and his wife, some day. We share messages via WP, FB, and email, and Joe is helping me to wade through the ocean of information about cameras, computers, and software. If you haven’t visited his blog, please do so!! This link will take you to the original view of the photo.

It’s not just Joe and his wife that I’d love to meet though. I’ve been telling Boomdee, and Crystal and Liana and Lynda and Mike and Mae (and so many others of you!), that we need to have a big ol blogging cocktail party somewhere in the middle of North America and invite everyone to come! No worries, my overseas friends, we’ll charter a plane to get you here, too.
Hey … a gal can dream can’t she?
Did someone say COCKTAIL PARTY ? I’m there ! Seriously LB I’m glad you like the photo and I am even happier it arrived in one piece. One day soon it would be cool to do as you suggest and meet everyone in person and have a big old party. Until then …
Well, you know I’m a planner so it’ll happen!! 🙂
What a great story! I just read about a blogger “meet-up” in London that I missed by a few weeks. Maybe we could have one here in VA.
Yes!! I would so love to meet up sometime!!! Calling all Virginians 🙂
You look gorgeous there Laurie. Party? count me in, you so punny gal :))
Thank you, Susie! You are too kind … especially since I have not had my dental surgery yet (thank goodness for fake teeth 🙂 )
And you will most definitely be invited!!
That was a very kind and beautiful gesture from Joe.
I love this picture too.
He makes beautiful photos … as do you!! Make your plans to attend the cocktail party 🙂
Hope you are well, Marcelo.
This is a beautiful portrait, LB, and the one Joe sent you is wonderful too.
And hey, stop dreaming and start planning, you know we will be there.
I’m on it!! We’ll have such fun!! (and thanks for the comment about my photo of me … I’m a bit sensitive about those fake teeth … could be worse and I’ll only have them for a couple more months)
😀 Yes we will!
That is a photo worthy of a “Dang!” it is stunning!! I agree absolutely on the wonderful world of blogging friends – it has been a revelation to me and an inspiration too! I believe you can have your cocktail party – go for it!! 🙂
Yes … and I’ll send the plane to pick you up in New Zealand, my Kiwi friend!
Super cool!!
What a wonderful thing for Joe to do for you!!! Sometimes people surprise us when we least expect it… Fake teeth or not that is a awesome photo of you with the print! A party be great… 🙂
Thank you for your kinds words and yes, my fellow North American, we will party (but not in the winter 🙂 )
I like the idea of a big blogger party, but many of my friends are in other countries. 😦
Mine too … so far the plane will have to go to Australia, New Zealand, Kuala Lumpur, Turkey, England, Scotland, Ireland, … yikes! I better start a fundraiser so I can charter that plane (dreamin big!)
😀
“my overseas friends, we’ll charter a plane to get you here, too” Looking forward to it 😀
YAY!! We’ll have a blast!!
Free beer on Fridays? Oh yes, a real blast 😀
Well done, Joe!
Yep! Made my day!
Awesome Laurie! I’m off to check out Joe’s blog now! Thanks for the tip!
You’ll love his work!
Beautiful thoughts from a blogging friend… that is sweet 😉
Yes … I’m constantly amazed by the connections!
What a beautiful smile! That’s the first thing I thought after I glanced at Joe’s photo. No purple bruises, no black gaps, no jagged edges. I’ve been so worried. Your mouth looks just beautiful. No more self-consciousness allowed. I’m sure the permanent teeth will look just as good.
Ok, with that settled, I was able to really look at the photo that captured your heart. Thanks for the link to Joe’s blog too. I can see why you love it: such an excellent composition, and in black and white, and the sky even cooperated to make the whole scene. Isn’t it wonderful when a photographer has the skill to show off the world like that?
Thanks for your supportive comments to me, but even more I’m so glad you like Joe’s work. I’ve learned much from him
That is a fabulous picture Joe sent you. What a guy! As to the party, I’m there. I think the middle of the country is Kansas, but Colorado might be more fun.
Colorado would be amazing! I’ll tell ya, I have had such a blast with all the bloggers and their enthusiasm for our blogger cocktail party! I’ve never wanted to be wealthy, except to be able to give to those in need, but now I want to be wealthy to charter that plane 🙂
Awwwww, so thoughtful. See, you are just that loveable 😀
The photo is really stunning, I especially love the movement of the coastline and the sky. Looks great and so do you Laurie! You’re smiling!!!!! Happiness is contagious and your blog always makes me smile too. I love your wall with so many moments and quotes to inspire you, looks like a happy place to hang. We totally must plan a WordPress hook-up…mid America, look out! LOL
BTW, is that green lawn I see out your window…I’m very envious ! Hugs to you and High-five to Joe, (ok, truth is I want to hug you too, HA) for your beautiful and caring gift.
Yes! It is green grass and I’m so glad you noticed! I only had a few minutes between patients to take some pics and I puposefully tried to show grass. We’ve had cold weather (nothing like what you have experienced) but no real snow and just that one day of ice. Hope you are staying warm!!
I’ll tell ya … our blogger cocktail party is going to be amazing! and I’ve smiled so many times reading all these comments 🙂
PS, thanks a bunch for the shout out and link, mwaaa
Glad to do it, sister!!
Count me in.
Excellent!! 🙂
Cocktail party? Can we get one of those buses to drive us around?! Seriously, that photo is a beauty, as Joe must be to send you a framed print like that.
p.s. I LOVE your Obedient Women quote behind you on the wall.
I love the bus idea!! With a DD / Bus Driver, we’ll be able to talk and get to know one another (and enjoy cocktails) without worry about distracted driving!
And I’m so glad you saw the quote on the wall! It is one of my favorites.
Here’s to Uppity Women!! 🙂
It’s great to see what a great physical recovery you’re making….isn’t the body incredible with its healing powers…..and your smile looks beautiful, who knows how stunning it will be after your surgery….look out world 🙂
That photo is amazing, and his blog is a great new find for me. As for the party I’m in, so make sure that plane stops in Scotland. Meeting up with blogging friends is wonderful!
Thanks so much for your kind comments … I shouldn’t whine when I’m obviously fortunate to be alive! And yes … the plane stops in Scotland! 🙂
You are definitely allowed to have as many moans as you like, it’s a horrible thing which has happened.
But the body’s ability to heal always amazes me…..the mind, now that can take a bit longer in my experience 🙂
YES, let’s all meet at Seanaid’s in Scotland!! Who’s in??!!
Me!! I am so in! Never been to Scotland!
Great story. Joe is a wonderful photographer. And he led me to your great blog!
His photos are indeed amazing! And welcome to Life on the Bike! I’ll be checking out your blog soon!
HEY! I feel so left out. A Cocktail party…I better receive an invitation to this gala event.☺ Joe bless his heart….the print is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!
This blogging cocktail party would be a success without you, Laurie!
I am packing a bag as I type this one 🙂 lol
That photograph looks awesome on your
wall, and what a nice gesture sending that
one, I will have to take a look at the blog 🙂
Have a fun Wednesday LB 🙂
Andro xxx
He’s a great guy and a wonderful photographer!
wow, I didn’t know that WP community meet up too….now I want to relocate there just so I can be part of it :)…would love to meet one day some of my blogger friends too….this truly inspires me though….thanks for sharing!
It truly is a great community, isn’t it?
Hi Laurie! Joe just sent me the link to this post. I had seen it before but I must have been so charmed by Joe’s photo that back then I didn’t notice the great text on the wall behind you “Obedient Women are Never Remembered in History”. That’s awesome! 🙂
It is the best, isn’t it? Strong, verbal women unite!!!
Yes! 🙂
