Greg surprised me with an over night trip to Bristol, a small city whose mainstreet is split down the middle. Half in Virginia. Half in Tennessee. We walked around the downtown area before enjoying a delicious meal at Vivian’s Table, the restaurant located in the Bristol Hotel. The city offers much more than this post shares, so check out these two previous posts if you like, here and here.

My dessert was called Eve’s Apple: Apple Mousse, Apple Compote, Lager Cookie Crumble, and Smoked Salted Caramel. Delicious! Sadly, my cellphone image in a dimly lit dining room just does not show the beauty of this artistic dessert.

The view from our room and the famous Bristol sign.

Just a couple other shots from our walk around town.

That dessert looks so delicious Laurie and I also love the “Ice Free Zone” sign 😁
Greg saw that sign and I just loved the intent of course, but that it was written on a spiral piece of paper. Perfect!
Hooray for little get aways! Good idea Greg 🙂 So do half the residents pay taxes in Tennessee and half in Virginia? We have a town like that in Alberta. Half of Lloydminster is in Saskatchewan. What a beautiful desert. You almost don’t want to put a fork in it….almost being the key word, ha! Love your photo of the doors. For some reason, I always notice unique doors too. I think the opportunity to say something about your style starts there. Bravo for the notice to ICE. What a crime they are! I never thought of a day I couldn’t travel to the US. We’re missing our winter get-away. But they only way I can speak to my disgust with that administration is with my pocket book. Take care love. 🩵🌸🩷
I support your pocketbook boycott 100%! We have driven through states without spending a dime for the same reason. Ugh. What a mess! But isn’t that sign perfect?
The dessert was delish!
Wow! I love the look of that dessert. I hope it tasted as beautiful as it looks. Also enjoyed a glimpse of Bristol. And loved that last ICE-free photo!
Thank you, Deborah. We loved the sign, too. Bravo to the creator! And yes, that dessert was delicious. A fun getaway!
How lovely to be on the receiving end of a surprise get-away. I’m tickled with the idea of a street split between two states. Your dessert looks divine! I love a good crumble. The ending shot is priceless. Resistance and a refusal to accept the attempt to create new norms is alive and well. Great post, LB.
As always, your words are on point! We must keep up the fight! Didn’t our Governor give great remarks the other night?!?!
Greg is so good to me. Both the dessert and the getaway were perfect!
😘
Eve’s Apple sounds so good and what a nice hubby that he surprised you with this trip!
