Fresh

It is hard to tell, but the snow was still falling when I took this image, allowing us, as my friend Jim over at Poetry in Motion said, to walk on virgin earth.

As I write this post, quickly before leaving for work, I am pondering if after 4 1/2 years it is time to freshen up my blog. I’ve not changed a thing since I first stepped onto the virgin earth of this blog space. Perhaps it is time.

Pondering.

  1. Lovely photo!! Interesting to see what you come up with. I did the same a couple of years ago and ended up starting a new blog;o) As long as you keep on blogging Laurie, would be sad to miss you! Cheers, Johanna

    • Johanna, what a lovely comment! It’s nice to know that I would be missed ❀
I've been pondering the redesign … of course, it would take time to do that and in that I'm in the middle of planning several events, I've put it on the back burner for now. Off to visit your blog!

    • Oh Joanne, you hit the nail on the head! I posted that thought but haven’t had a moment to get back to work on it. I might just start with a simple change of the photo header. I might be able to fit that into the schedule!

  2. Gorgeous, Laurie. You make magic with your camera lens, each photo an extension of your wonderful self.

I’m all for re-decorating blogs. I’ve done it three times now and always find it invigorating. It affords a nice new perspective somehow. Love you.

    • I remember when you redecorated AND when you took that online course about it. I love your enthusiasm for projects and for the fact that you ALWAYS follow through.
I also loved Shelley’s comment in response to my post about the incredible gift you gave me ❀
I was telling Joanne that thinking about it and doing it a blog "redo" are two different things. I may start with a simple photo header change.

      • I like the challenge of a new project. It’s something to look forward to or a way to challenge myself or both.

So here is something you many not know: you can “try on” different themes with a few clicks without making a commitment. Simply go to Admin, Appearance, Themes, then select free (or paid). From there, search Photography and you’ll find several that might work. You can see how your actual blog will look with the new theme, so you can try on several. The changes aren’t permanent until you say so.

…you know, in your spare time. πŸ˜‰

I’m delighted that you enjoyed the photo cards and tags. Your work is beautiful. It was fun to put the cards together.

Have a good week. I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing details of your DC march. Hopefully several of us will blog about it. xo

  3. Thank you for the shout out, LB. I’ve been thinking the exact same thing for the past year regarding freshening up my blog. Great minds think alike.

    • So here’s the question Jim: do great minds also get the job done? Ha!
I may just have to start with changing the photo header πŸ™‚

    • Seonaid! Hello! I’m so glad to hear from you, and I’ll dash over to your blog next.
Thank you for your lovely comments, by the way ❀

  4. I’ve had the same thought for quite some time but more about content than appearance. It’s a time for new beginnings but I’m looking at how many areas I can begin again in. The timing will let you know when it’s right for the change. It will be organic. I love the photo and what it represents was wonderful and profound. Everything you put out here is fresh and enjoyable for us. Photographs are just stunning.

    • Marlene, you have such a way of making us all feel so good. AND you are so encouraging, too. I’m thinking of starting with a simple change in the photo header.
In your last blog post, you mentioned change and how it felt like a very different year. I’m off to see what you’ve been up to since then.

      • I’m up to no good, as usual, Laurie. πŸ™‚ I have a lot of work ahead of me and my blog is coming in almost last. I’ll get there though. Tenacity is my middle name. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Mary. It was 8 degrees on Monday and 63 degrees on Friday! WTH?
On Monday, my truck battery wouldn’t start.
On Friday, we turned on the ac in my office.
      The earth is in confusion!

      • Oh, how I long for 63 degrees! I’m excited about this coming week, when the highs will be in the mid and upper 30’s, maybe 40. I’m hoping that all of the ice we have will melt.

  5. I’ve thought the same thing, Laurie. It will depend on time and energy, though! Your picture is beautiful–and I do like that quote about the virgin earth. Went over and followed that blog…

    • I’ve been following Jim for years and have always enjoyed the stories, poems, and photos that he shares. Someday I hope to get to PA and meet up for a beer.
If you haven’t seen it yet, today’s post is powerful.

  6. It will be interesting to see whether you decide to update your blog. I made major changes to my blog – both the template and topic – one time during the six years that I’ve been blogging. I was really nervous about doing it (though I had to make a change since I had posted all my grandmother’s diary entries), but it has gone well.

    • Thanks for sharing your story about change. I’m still pondering, mostly because I haven’t had time to make any changes. I think I might start with changing the photo header πŸ™‚

  7. I changed themes a year ago or so, and while I love the look, not everything transferred over smoothly. I still haven’t gone back on older posts to fix the mess, but I did manage to get photos resized (that was part of the problem). If you have the time and are techy, it can be fun. I find it frustrating, but it’s always good to give something new a whirl. Have fun with it! πŸ™‚
