Very nice. Things in black and white take on a different feel. I love your header shot.
Thank you for the comment about the B&W image, and also about the header shot as I was wondering if I should change it. I’ve had this blog for almost 4 years, and I’ve never changed that image. Glad you like it!
Love the light and bokeh! Such great mood. And Monochromia is the BEST! 🙂
Aren’t we fortunate to be part of that family of photographers!
Oh the glowing bokeh! What a gorgeous background. This just sings in monochrome, it is reminding me of a flower with the cobwebs catching the light and the metal parts holding the lamp together. Beautiful, Laurie. And yes, Monochromania is an incredible collection of talent and subjects.
I thought the same thing and was wondering if it was designed to look like a flower. It’s convincing.
Thank you! I was so pleased that the cobwebs showed up so clearly.
This was truly one of those right time / right place shots.
The way the glass catches the light reflected through makes a great effect, and I’ll bet it’s equally beautiful with the gas on. This design is so appealing.
I found these lamps at Pier One a few years ago, and yes, the design is of a flower. The color of the glass is pinkish / purple and I walked outside just at the right time to catch the sun shining through it. Funny thing … even though the color is beautiful, the B&W really drew me in.
Yes, me too. You certainly have an artist’s eye
Simply superb!!
Thank you, Dave! I’m so glad you like this one 🙂
Nice shot 🙂
Thanks! One of those right time / right place shots!
I am beginning to suspect that no matter how well you know composition, how expensive your camera is, if you can be at the right place at the right time, that is the major part.
Agree! If one has the eye and the vision, the outcome is usually good
Or sometimes good, in my case 😀
I love this shot, Laurie – the brighter white of the light against the beautiful bokeh of the more subdued background! Just lovely. And three cheers for Monochromia!!
Thank you, Stacy. Isn’t it funny how such a simple shot turns out to be a favorite? That’s how I feel about this one
Beauty in simplicity – absolutely agree and understand why this one’s a favorite!
Black/white strips away many distractions and give the essence. Lovely!
Doreen, what a great way to describe B&W. Love it!
I like the way this glows from the backlight.
Thanks! You should have seen me crouching down to capture the rising sun right in the middle of the glass
Travails of the artist!
Love this one. Looks like there was a lot of care put into making the background complementary. Well done.
Thanks Frank! I was pleased with how this one turned out
Congratulations! Your picture catches my fantasy. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you! so glad you like it
