The days after Christmas are some of my favorite. Β The hustle and bustle have settled down, yet the lights and tree are still up.
So while I get back into the routine of work, after a 4 day weekend, I have the pleasure of coming home to lights, still softly shining in my home.
(after hitting publish, I found out that this post is my 400th!)
Good for you! Congrats! That’s a lot of photography and writing. I love this week, too. Such a joy to appreciate all the quiet and beauty as we ramp up for NYE.
Ramp up is a perfect descriptive! We definitely ebb and flow during the holidays, don’t we?
Congrats on your 400th post and its a beauty Laurie π
Thank you, Joe! By the way, I had lunch with my friend Tim, who is quite the photo nut / computer nut. You all have much in common. He just bought his first mirrorless camera … went with the Sony. I was telling him that I was encouraging you to hold a photography class one weekend and he’s in too π
Someday ….
The Sony is a good camera so he made a wise choice. By the time you are done telling people about this class we are going to have to rent a hall, LOL. Thanks again for your vote of confidence Laurie π
Merry Christmas Laurie. I hope you had a wonderful holiday.
Thank you, Edith, and I hope the same for you! Merry, merry!
Beautiful :-). Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Laurie. π
Thank you, Sharon! Happiness in the new year to you, as well!
Wonderful warmth in this beautiful photo Laurie! And I feel the same about days after christmas! π
Thank you Elina. Enjoy the calm (or rather … the slightly more calm π )
Enjoy your post-Christmas peace, Laurie. Four hundred, you say? You are just getting started. I’m looking forward to the next four hundred.
It’s been lovely, and I hope the same for you, Bruce! I’m so glad to have gotten to know you through some of those 400 posts! Looking forward to continuing our blogging friendship!
I love this quiet time, too.
Congratulations on your 400th post!
Thank you, Sheryl! I’m so glad you love the Week After, too.
Enjoy and happiness to you in 2015!
400!!! Congratulations, LB!!! What an accomplishment. Keep it going, LB. I look forward to your upbeat posts and terrific photography in 2015. Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
400! It kind of took me back to see that number. I’m so glad to have made friends like you through our blogs, and know that I’m always so glad to hear from you. Your support and comments mean much to me!
Happiness and good health to you in 2015!
400!!! Yay!!! We have been leaving our little blue/white light tree lit 24/7 over the last few days. So nice to enter the room on these dark mornings to see that cheerful glow! I’m with ya on these “wind-down” days following all the gatherings, etc………..exhale slowly……………………
Yes! Breathe … we need the quieter moments after the crazier ones.
Cheers to you and those blue and white lights!
Oh, Laurie, this is just stunning. Thank YOU! (((HUGS))) Amy
Thank you, Amy, for your ever present hugs!
You are so welcome, Laurie. Happy New Year, Luv!!! (((HUGS))) Amy
CONGRATS on your 400th post!!! YAY!!!!!
Thank you, Amy!
Congratulations Laurie, on your 400th post! So glad to have connected with you in the blogging world!
I feel the same, Lynn! I’m loving these WP friendships.
Happy New Year!
And right there is the reason why we should put up a tree with pretty sparkly things and lights in the middle of winter! We don’t get to appreciate our pretty lights until close to midnight [due to the long twilight] and before 4am. It’s a narrow window! I’m beginning to think I might have to create something special for Mid-Winter!!
400 posts is quite an impressive number – here’s to the next 400! π xoxo
Yes! I love that Mid-Winter idea. Let’s make a new holiday … “Mid-Winter Lights”
or something like that!
Take care, my friend, and thanks for being here for many of those 400 posts!
I have around 330 right now, but have deleted many. Congrats.
I was going to say … you’ve got to have posted waaaayyyyy more than 330. Good for you for weeding out your less than favorite ones. Ive got those, too
Thank you, Ron, for being here for many of those 400!
You are welcome.
I feel the same way too! There’s an afterglow that is soft and soothing. Congrats on 400th post too!
Thank you, Deborah. I’ll hope that afterglow stays with you for awhile!
Thanks too for coming back to Life on the Bike so often
A lovely post Laurie, and I love your post-Christmas mellow mood!! I happen to agree with you too π
Thank you, Tina, and I’ll hope for continued mellowness for you as well!
Beautiful photo, Laurie. Merry Christmas and a sweet peaceful New Year to you. 400 posts is outstanding. Congratulations!
Thank you, Mary. Thanks so much for being there for many of those 400, my friend.
Happy New Year and many blessings to you!
400 posts – that’s an achievement! Happy New Year to you!
Thanks Mae. I’m so glad to have gotten to know you through many of those 400, and by following your blog. Happiness and health to you in 2015!
I didn’t put up any decorations this year that involved lights . . . and I missed them. I agree that just sitting in a dark room with the tree lights on is a special treat. And 400 posts is very impressive–keep up the great work!
Thank you, Kerry. I’m glad to have gotten to know you through WP! I so enjoy your blog!
I keep meaning to photograph our tree. It is particularly gorgeous this year. Thanks for sharing yours, and that unique ball.
You’ll laugh … that was the only ball that made it on the tree this year π
Next year I’ll do better!
Congratulations on your 400th post! So glad I found your blog ~ it’s always a treat to read it.
Thank you! and I feel the same way about your blog π
By the way … some blogging friends and I will be meeting in DC this spring. Perhaps we can meet for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Let me know if you’re interested (and I completely understand if not!)
Please keep me posted on your blogger get-together. I’ve only connected in person with one other blogger ~ it was odd, but FUN! Would love to meet-up…
Congratulations on 400 posts, Laurie. I wonder what that translates into photographs taken? I too love the after holiday glow. The work is done, the tree is still up, and the colder weather means more time at home. I know you appreciate and enjoy it all.
I missed this comment, Alys. So … it’s January 2nd and my tree still glows π It’s so pretty (even though it only has one ornament on it)!
I love that!
looks cool π
Thank you, Joshi!
A beautiful glowing image and congrats on your 400th post!!
Thank you, Susan! This one the one ornament that made it to the tree … okay, I exaggerate … there were three on it! π
Next year, I’ll get more ornaments up but for this year, it was all about the lights!
400! Holy Toledo LB! Way to rock the Hallows of WP. The fun part is we can come back and visit these days years from now and chit chat over old fashion camera gear, LOL It’ll probably be part of your visor while you’re riding you’re flying your jet propulsioned Harley. You pic oozes warm and comfort, which I always feel here. xo K
You are so right and you know? I started this blogging journey as a way to document or journal my rides / trips. I of course still do that, but it has become so much more!
I just told another blogger that “this photo showed the one ornament that made it to the tree β¦ okay, I exaggerate β¦ there were three on it! Next year, Iβll get more ornaments up but for this year, it was all about the lights!”
LOL, way to Celebrate LB. I’m still plugging in my tree every night and actually have it lit this morning as a nod to Ukrainian Christmas and for my dad.
Hey the Christmas ‘take down’ will be a breeze! xo K
