I’m Dreaming

018-2

Yes! I’m dreaming of a White Christmas!

As Alys at Gardening Nirvana so amazingly remembered, I finally started to focus on Christmas – yesterday –  the 20th of December.

Since my old fashioned Christmas (otherwise known as “just now focusing on the holiday”) is not yet white, I pulled up an image of January of 2013, and I’m thinking positive!!

(and by the way, this image has had very little post-processing.  It really was this glorious that early morning almost 2 years ago)

    • Thank you, Joe!
It was early in the morning after a beautiful snow and I was on the way to work. No one was on the road, so I just stopped the truck and shot the scene. It was beautiful!

  1. Yay you on the positive thinking! Personally I’m hoping for a non-white Christmas but it seems anything can happen these days weather wise so maybe I’ll just go with whatever appears……… The light in your photo is glorious! Isn’t it hard to believe it’s already Mid-Winter/Summer already!!

  2. 🙂 Extraordinary! Thanks for the mention Laurie. Go forth and decorate, though with the above image in mind, it will be impossible to top mother nature. Maybe yo can bundle up for the day. I’ll cross fingers for the cold, fluffy white stuff.

    • As I looked through my archives for this shot, I was a bit surprised by how many winter photos I’ve taken. I do love what Mother Nature does to the earth in the winter.
So far, I have a tree up, albeit a small one, candles in the window, pretty linens on the table, and Andrew’s and my stockings are up. Not much … but this year, simple may just be the ticket.
I’m looking forward to the weekend after Christmas for that is when I will listen to music, do some baking and gift wrapping.
      I’m a week behind … and that’s okay!

    • It was such an incredible morning. I stopped in the middle of the road, stood on the running board, and took the shot (because of the newly fallen snow, no one was on the road).
      Thank you!

  3. Beautiful photo! It’s brown here, in a place that’s supposed to be white at Christmas. I’m hoping that we get a little covering of white before Wednesday, but not sure it’s going to happen.

    • I’m so glad to hear from you!! I’ve tried to access your blog a few times over the months and don’t always have success. I hope that all is well with you!

      • I’m very much alive here, thank you for your concern. I need lots of motivation to bringing my blog alive. I admire your photography skills.

  4. OH! Laurie! This photograph takes my breath away. I’m hoping for a White Christmas as well, but it is not white yet, with the little frosting of snow we had, all melted. Wishing YOU a very Merry Christmas!! IF you can, come on over to Petals on Tues evening to see my Christmas post. (smile) I promise you will enjoy it! (((HUGS))) Amy

    • Jim, thank you. I’m so grateful to have made this virtual friendship with you.
Much peace and happiness and health to you and yours as well!

    • yes, tis raining.
BUT my son is home from Atlanta, and the family will gather tomorrow and that is really all that counts (although I’d still welcome that snow!).
      Enjoy this holiday season, Tina!

  5. I “liked” this when I saw it a couple of days ago, but I had to come back and look at it again. I don’t really care about a white Christmas so much anymore, but this photo is absolutely magical, Laurie!! Merry Christmas to you! xox

  6. I’ll never get tired of looking at this shot. My gosh you live in a beautiful area. I love the lilac’s and pinkish hues that peek thru the composition. Makes me think of how nature painted this morning so effortlessly with a gentle brush. As you say, “glorious” xo K

    • It really is almost like a painting, isn’t it?
You should have seen me … stopped in the middle of the road to take the shot. Thankfully, there weren’t many people out there driving 🙂

Because Boomdee dared me: Lay a little sugar on me :-)
